“Howl”, the title track on my new album, also called “Howl”, was released on SoundCloud today. Ben Alexander is the vocalist and Luke Garfield is the mix engineer.

The songs on “Howl” are about anger, frustration, confusion, and sadness, and feature instruments that have a harsh, howling sound, for instance, bagpipes. The songs express how I sometimes felt in the past year or two – but I believe many people have felt the same. These are, after all, deeply disturbing times.
“Howl” lyrics
Can you hear them calling you –
the wildness and the moon?
Let out the wolf inside,
be yourself and just go wild.
There’s a feeling in your gut
of rage you must let out.
Throw away your begging bowl,
open up your mouth and howl
In that moment you’ll be free
to be what you want to be.
Only other animals
will stop to hear you howl.
Take a breath and shout it out.
Raise your voice and scream out loud.
Feel the tension go as you
open your mouth and howl.
Think of all the things you’re doing
because you think that you owe someone.
And all the sorry’s that you been saying,
though you’re born and die alone.
There’s all these feelings inside
that you don’t let out, and that you hide.
But life’s a journey on your own.
You have no pack, so howl alone.
Feel the moonlight on your face,
moon shadows playing on the trees.
There’s a feeling you can trace,
rising in the night time breeze.
Coyotes howl for their mates,
wolves howl ’cause they do.
Alone, you are born and die,
so go out, howl at the sky.
Can you hear them calling you –
the wildness and the moon?
Let out the wolf inside,
be yourself, and just go wild.
There’s a feeling in your gut,
of rage you must let out.
Throw away your begging bowl,
open up your mouth and howl.
Have a good look at your soul,
open up your mouth and howl.
You’ve silenced your primal scream,
and you’re thoroughly civilized.
But there’s little difference between
the lone wolf, and the real you that you hide.
Don’t forget you were born to run alone.
Silenced you may be, but not broken.
Drop your façade, and your phone,
go howl for your tribe of one.
Listen to the growls out there,
floating through the midnight air,
calling you from out of sight,
to be swallowed by the night.
So just your voice remains
to show that you’ve dropped your chains,
and become an animal
that lifts its head and howls.
