I take trouble over my music videos. For each song, I produce five different kinds – since each platform on which it will appear has different format specs:
1) full-length visualizer video – purely abstract patterns;
2) full-length lyric video;
3) Spotify Canvas;
4) Instagram Reel;
5) full-length music video, depicting the narrative in the lyrics
The full-length videos are hosted on Vimeo, and on here, obviously. I sometimes forget just what a schlepp this whole thing is. I kind of enjoy making the videos because it makes me zone out and work on automatic, like when I’m painting.
At the moment I’ve got 55 videos on Vimeo, of which some are in my Showcase. Fifty-five! (About 3 hours worth of listening.) Each video is painstakingly produced, as high quality as I can get it, technically, aesthetically, and musically. And then there’s the worries about being copyright and keeping everything original and unique. I’d say that each one takes about 80 hours to produce. No wonder I’ve got Tetris Syndrome!
