“Hold On” is our latest release. It is a Heart Song, expressing deeply-felt love with a sweet melody, subtle harmonies, and sweeping rhythms. It is about the pain of not being able to say the name of the person you love, having to keep your love a secret and, for whatever reason, not declaring it. At the same time, there is someone who loves you, who recognizes your inner essence, and who wants you to hold on to the light and the hope that lies in the future. The gorgeous melody and tender lyrics make the song uplifting and tender, not despairing. You will be moved by the rich, deeply expressive vocals, delivered with tenderness and quiet strength, particularly the line, “Hold on to the light”.

How this song happened
I wanted to write a song about my brother, who was gay. But for all of his short life, he never actually shared with me or anyone in our circle, who it was that he was in love with, or loved (if he was ever in love). In our society and our family, back then, being gay was totally unacceptable. I was OK with it, but my parents were not, and certainly put the fear of God into him. After he died, I realized that I really didn’t know anything about his inner world, and that I had not supported him enough. I should have at least told him that it was all right, and that I love him. I wish that he wasn’t so alone and didn’t feel so invisible to others, that his despair led him to commit suicide. So, we’re saying in the lyrics: whoever you love, say their name, hold on to the light. Don’t give up. Someone loves you.
